Now that baby has come, moms seem to forget about taking care of themselves. With the added tension on the body from sitting many hours breastfeeding, lack of sleep, carrying baby or other children, this time in a mom’s life can be one of the most important times to take care of herself in order to meet the demands of her daily life. On top of these things, the delivery itself can cause shifting in the pelvic structures. So, ensuring that everything is balanced and moving well will not only help in recovery but can also minimize the recurrence of low back pain in the future. Just as with any other patient, our treatments with postnatal patients will be individualized to each woman, depending on her needs. We may incorporate gentle adjustments, soft tissue work, patient education and rehabilitative exercises if needed.
